Pelenise Alofa

Kiribati Researcher

Pelenise Alofa, of Banaba and Tuvalu heritage, lives in Kiribati where she is a climate activist and works as consultant in Kiribati and the region. She is the National Coordinator of the Kiribati Climate Action Network (KiriCAN) 2010. Penelise is a recipient of the Commonwealth Point of Light-Queen Elizabeth 2021,  Penelise has skills in project management, literacy/language/communication, accounting budgeting, and consulting/monitoring/evaluation. Penelise has memberships and advisory affiliations with several organisations such as the Kiribati National Experts Group (KNEG) Office of President, Kiribati Health Retreat Association, Banaban Elders & Landowners Assoc. Fiji, Pacific CAN and CAN International, and Churches Education Director’s Association in Kiribati (CEDAK). Pelenise Alofa conducted fieldwork and case studies in Kiribati for the Rising Stories project.
